Larry joined the USMC and took his oath in St. Louis on
December 28, 1968. He attended Morse code school, and his first duty station
was in the Philippines as a Intercept Operator. After
the Philippines Larry went to TAD (temporary additional Duty) to Danang or Yankee
Station where they tracked all aircraft in Country. After language school Larry
worked on the Chinese Navy Desk, and then Larry worked on the Russian Navy
Desk. Larry service ended with the USMC on June 28, 1978.
After serving in the USMC for 10 years Larry than joined the VFW Post 5302 until it closed due to lack of participation. After which Larry Joined Post 10302. Within Post 10302 Larry has held many positions. He was our Post Chaplin for 5 years, He was Jr. Vice Commander for one year, Larry also held the Sr. Vice Commander position for one year. He is currently the Commander of Post 10302. He is Committee Chair for the IL State Fair. He is also Sr. Vice Commander for District 10.
